### A little history
The islands of Les Saintes or Les Saintes, in Guadeloupean Creole Lésent, are an archipelago of volcanic islets in the French West Indies in the Caribbean Sea. Divided between the communes of Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas, the Saintes are administratively attached to Guadeloupe. Their inhabitants are called Saintois(es).
The smell of pancakes on the island quickly confirms the Breton origin of these inhabitants. After numerous English invasions, which were always repelled, the settlers arrived in the archipelago in the 1640's. They were Bretons, Normans, Vendeans and Alsatians.
